Practical Sailor
A Look at Sails:
The Problem
The existing head sails, both the 165% genoa that came with Constance and the #1 genoa from Interrupt are stretched out of shape.
The Plan
- Make the genoa from Interrupt fit by relocating the jib block at the top of the mast to gain a longer hoist. If this does not work fit, then recut the sail.
- Obtain a 135%LP genoa.
Use Case
- The boat is an Alberg 30.
- Sail is for racing in less than 12 to 15 knots.
- Season starts in April.
- The sail is to be used for one-design racing only.
- Boat is sailed between 45 and 65 times a year. No joke; checked the logs to get these numbers.
