2015 Winterization
- Electrical:
- Disconnected automatic bilge pump from batteries...no need to run them all winter
- WD-40 the ignition switch.
- Filled batteries with distilled water.
- Charged batteries fully.
- Engine:
- Changed engine oil (Shell Rotella T
15W40, 2 quarts) and filter (Yanmar). Checked oil level repeatedly. Sufficient, about 1/5 from high mark on dip stick, despite seemingly small amount of oil.
- Changed transmission oil.
- Two raw water pump bolts (12mm heads) removed, greased, and replaced loosely.
- Replaced raw water in cooling system with West Marine propylene glycol.
- Raw water pump impeller removed from pump and tied to pump body.
- Fan belts removed and placed salon forward bulkhead locker port side.
- Alternator bolts (1/2" heads) removed, greased, and replaced loosely.
- Raw water hose existing pump rotated to point up above engine. raw water hose retaining hook (3/8" head) on starboard bulkhead. raw water hose retaining clamp on engine (12mm head).
- Raw water thruhull cover removed, cleaned, and reinstalled.
- Cleaned and checked operation of engine exhaust cooling water siphon break.
- General:
- Unloaded boat.
- Wet vac'ed all water out of the bilge.
- Covered boat using the three section cover that came with the boat.
- Washed deck.
- Head:
- Pumped propylene glycol through the head into the holding tank and over the side.
