Using a Ridgid quarter sheet sander and Diablo 80 grit sandpaper, machine sanded the hull removing a meaningful quantity of red Interlux Bottomkote Aqua, a hard paint. In places sanded through the disappointingly thin layer to the previous blue paint. This is particularly the case on the port bow. Used a hook scraper to remove loose paint in the form of thick chips. Again the port bow was the area most affected, but port side below the winches (?) had a good sized area that was loose as well. The hook scraper, used judiciously, appears to glide over well adhered paint including areas of Aqua and the blue paint below.
Removed the strainer from the engine intake that over the course of the summer collected a meaningful amount of soft growth.
Fresh water washed hull with hose sprayer attachment.
Wore Tyvek suit with hood and booties, nitrile gloves and N95 dust mask. Signifcant issue with glasses fogging despite the temperatures being in the mid-forties. As a result, had some red sanding dust on wrists, none evident when blowing my nose or spitting. Very good.
