Arrived at West Marine to have them shake the two gallon cans of PCA Gold purchased at 30% off a few weeks ago. Very good decision, paint solids were better distributed throughout the paint as compare to before, despite the can being completely full. Got to Smith's at 10:45. Took till 11:30 to finish taping the waterline. Both aft quarters and counter required a considerable amount of adjusting the tape line as the tape was applied. Burnished the tape in place with a wooden paint stirrer. Added a second pass of 1" tape to guard the boot stripe. Good thing I did.
By 12:45, finished painting the bottom, used a roller for the majority of the bottom and a chip brush for the cutlass bearing housing and various areas near the rudder that would not take a roller.
Replaced the stern light with another Need entry for AquaSignal 25 . The light is designed such that replacing the lens is difficult, requiring one to bend the metal on either side to release the lens and insert a new one. The ends of the bulb have changed as well from dimples to points. Clipped about 1/2" off the end of each wire to expose fresh wire and assess the condition of the wire...clean, copper, no indication of moisture instrusion. Rerouted the entrance of the wires into the fixture so that they enter in what appears to be the intended manner...by the rail and at the corner of the cap that fits over the rail, down through the top of the rail mount housing to behind the stern light assembly, and into the stern light assembly via a hole in the center of the rear plate of the assemby.
Painted over the transom with EZ Poxy 2 . She's now a "boat with no name".
