Tacked across the Severn to R "6", back till approaching the till of water off Bembe Beach, and then out into the Chesapeake Bay to an area N of R "2" till we could read the "Wagenborg" lettering on the side of the Tiberborg, MMSI 224750715 general cargo vessel of 14695 gross tonnage, located at 38.95492, -76.41518, quite clearly. Tacked and returned to Yacht Haven Annapolis. Sailed under main alone, was Leah chose to wear one of the Class I offshore life jackets from the start. Tried different settings on the traveller and sheet. Constance perferred the traveller down, and sheet eased. That combination produced the same of a bit more speed, 4.5 to 5 kn, than a tighter sheet. Speed was affected by some wave action on the starboard bow that produced significant pitching from time to time. On the way back, with the apparent wind on the beam or a bit broader, we were making 6.2 kn at times. Towards the end, used the navigation lights for the first time. They wall work! Effort expended for the Vessel Safety Check paid off.

Nearly had to the river and bay to ourselves. The Woodwind was out under reduced sail without the fisherman, as were two other sailing craft, and J-22's racing in the vicinity of Severn Sailing Association {% CASE "Sta-Lok" %] SSA .

On the way out, before raising sail, passed Lacerta , a 40 foot Concordia Yawl from 1956. Very nicely maintained. Ratlined shrouds to the spreaders, mast steps to the truck.

Need to rig a reefing line. Perhaps from the boom, through the leech grommet, back to the boom, forward to the boom abaft the gooseneck, through the luff grommet, down to deck and back to the winch port side of the companionway sliding hatch ?

When securing the mainsheet, pulled, stretched, and deformed the ring-ding securing the fiddle block to the boom. Needs replacement.

Check the VHF 600 for a MMSI . One does not appear to have been entered. The unit displays dashes in place of a number.
