Fixed the bow navigation light by ScotchBrite'ing the contacts.

Cleared the overrides from the Furlex drum by disassembling the drum.

Determined that one reason that the jib is hard to raise, is that the sailcloth surrounding the luff wire twists, pulling a third thickness of sailcloth into the slot.

Replaced the lower most set of tell tales on the jib.

Tacked out of the Severn in five boards.

  1. G "1SC" at the mouth of Spa Creek, 90d Magnetic to beacon W "8" off the naval station
  2. Beacon W "8" off the naval station to R "2E" off Eastport
  3. R "2E" off Eastport to Greebury Point shoal east of G "5"
  4. Greenbury Point shoal east of G "5" towards Lake Ogleton
  5. Back onto starboard tack to area off Goose Pond west of WNR "B" at 38d 58.043N 76d 26.046W check location
Replaced tell tales working wonderfully. Should have done this long ago.

Excellent steady wind sailing close hauled on each board all the way out. As we cleared the Severn, the wind veered toward the south, lifting the boat's course. Reaching speeds of 5.5 to 5.8 knots (from memory).

Tacked over to port forming course for the "A" in the distance, hitting speeds of up to 7.2 knots with numerous readings in the mid six knot range. Upon reaching Y "A", fell off to a broad reach to R "4", and thereafter a run to R "6". On the run the wind had dropped to about 9 knots based upon 4.5 knots at the masthead and boat speed of 4.5 knots.

Off the Boatyard for a couple to pints.
