Departed quite smoothly. Headed out to the area off the Eastport Yacht Club. Raised sail and sailed toward the river. Turned down river sailing wing and wing on starboard tack. Headed down river to the G "5". Hardended up and tacked back up the river, trying to get good response out of the boat and the sails. Seemed to be tacking from 30d to 280d as reported by the [INCLUDE product product="GPSMAP 192C".
Upon reaching the Naval Academy seawall, turned back downriver to do it again. Started downriver on port tack. Slowly approched a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 439 sailing on port under main alone. Closed to within a boat length before being forced to gybe due to converging course. Broad reached away a bit to gain seperation. Retunred to running downwind wing on wing to R "4", gybing once to stay clear of the shallow water at Greenbury Point. Outran the Jenneau. Hardened up and returned to tacking, trying for better performace. Again, seemed to be tacking from 30d to 280d. Continously headed as I sailed from near G "2E" to part Horn Point. Returned to the area off the Eastport Yacht Club. Dropped sail. Motored in.
Misjudged while entering the slip. Ended up wih the bow pulpit hitting the starboard dolphin. The bow light caught on the line hanger attached to the dolphin and rotated it aftward a bit. In pushing back from the dolphin, contacted the huge boat tied up at the Chart House. Moved Constance hand over hand back towards Spa Creek and tried again. Better this time. This time docked without incident or drama.
Checked all navigation lights. Bow light not working. Rotated bow light back to vertical and it came on. May have damaged the wires as they pass through the side of the bow pulpit tubing. Need to replace these anyway as they are too short to allow connection to the electrical system without splices.
