2016 Bruce Rankin Memorial Regatta. Held north of G "1" and east of Whitehall Bay. Two races.

First race consisted of two legs about one nautical mile each. One upwind leg and one downwind leg. The windward mark south of the line. Decent start at the pin ahead of the rest of the fleet. Slowly Wicked caught up to us and locked up below them such that we both sailed too far on starboard tack. Single tack from starboard onto port and then a final tack to leave the windward mark to port, as required. Set the chute. No gybes required.

Finishing order: Lingin, Wicked, Argo, Rinn Duin, Skybird, Laughing Gull, Windswept, Second-2-Nun, Asylum

Second race consisted of three legs, windward, leeward, and windward, about one nautical mile each. The windward mark south of the line. Touched the pin prior to the start. Started near the boat a bit behind everyone, deliberately, so that we could perform a tack and a gybe in clear air well clear of the other boats. Rinn Duin, Lingin and Asylum were all over early. Made excellent speed to windward, 5.5 to 6 knots, with the current flowing south at a full knot by the start of the second race. Caught and passed all boats ahead by the time we reached the windward mark. Perfect spinnaker set at the mark, flying full and clear while the boat was still overlapped with the mark. Gybed repeatedly to cover both Wicked and Lingin....perhaps five or six gybes total. Beth Scheidt and I worked out a good, solid, repeatable process for handling the spinnaker lines. Dave Scheidt did an excellent job handling the pole. Rounded the leeward mark in the lead. Lingin split from the fleet going far right while everyone else went left or kept the middle of the course. Again had speed on everyone. Finished well clear of the other boats. TC was on his game driving both fast and high with windward telltales lifting and settling then lifting again.
