Trouble starting the engine. Kicked and died very soon. Double checked fuel petcock open. Activated decompression levers. Engine spun freely without compression. Returned decompression levers to normal position. Did not start. Opened bleed screw on engine mounted filter and jiggled fuel pump...no diesel leaked out. Perhaps the pump was fully actuated by the cam in the engine? Tried to start again...lots of "smoke"...diesel aerosol by the smell and whitish color. Replaced air filter. Started without issue. Let it run for a few minutes. Shutdown the engine. Restarted without issue.

Headed out under engine well into the river. This being the weekend of the Annapolis Sailboat Show, there few a number of boats anchored out southeast of the Academy. Reached out beyond R "6" and back to the Academy. Back out to R "4", marking time against a 33 footer that I past and left well behind. Headed downwind well outside of G "1E". A red Harbor 20 was coming out of Eastport. Being on starboard tack, I let them bear off a bit and take Constance's stern. Upon tacking, near 90 degrees this one time, and tacking again, found the Harbor 20 in my wake. Continued to open a lead upon her. Tacked twice more. Upon arriving at the naval installation where the YP's are kept, furled the jib, doused the main, and headed back to the slip. Upon final approach, found the same Harbor 20 headed downstream. Let her pass ahead as I was motoring and she was sailing.

Quite the crowd on the dock waiting for the Chart House restaurant to open, or so it seemed. Gotta perform before a crowd. Nailed the entry into the slip. Put the boat away in twenty minutes.
