Log of Alberg 30 #262 on 02 March 2017

Date: 02 March 2017 17:00 till 02 March 2017 19:00
Endpoints: Smith's Marina to Smith's Marina
Purpose: Remove Manual Bilge Pump Thruhull and Prep for V-Berth Painting
Complement: Jonathan Bresler

  • Stopped by HomeDepot for Rust-Oleum one quart High Gloss White and box cutter blades.
  • Removed manual bilge pump 1-1/4" thruhull by placing the 18" crescent wrench on the retaining nut and using the Groco thruhull tool to spin off the thruhull from outside the boat. The hose had been very difficult to remove and did not yield easily to cutting a box cutter. Used the Groco thruhull tool to force the hose off the thruhull. Outside diameter of threaded portion of thruhull is 1-5/8".
  • Removed the forward lower and upper chainplates and backing plates so that I can paint the knees, bulkhead section, etc that will be either covered or inaccessible after final installation of the forward lower and upper chainplates and backing plates.
  • Taped the deck opening for the forward lower and upper chainplates closed to prevent possible rainwater instrusion.
  • Moved the depthmeter inboard to the location of the knotmeter below the windmeter.
  • Installed the Blue Sea Systems MRBF-1 Terminal Fuse Block with MRBF Terminal Fuse - 100A on the forward, #1, battery. Added the same fuse holder and fuse to the aft battery, #2, during the previous week. Both batteries now fuse protected.
