Course A5. Pin heavily favored. Wicked, Laughing Gull, and Asylum started at the pin end, all with full hoist mainsails. Argo, Skybird, LinGin, and Second-2-Nun, all with a single reef in the main, started at the committee boat. TC chose to start at the boat in order to cover LinGin. Difficult to understand as Laughing Gull is the series leader. The "A" mark was set quite close to the R "4". All boats starting at the pin began with a considerable lead.

Well developed sea state with boats bashing to windward. Argo took three boards to reach the layline, two on port, one on starboard, then tacked over to starboard to round the mark. One the first board, Argo overtook Asylum. Wicked and Laughing Gull maintained their lead to the turning mark. Laughing Gull overstood quite a distance. Order at the turn Wicked, Laughing Gull, Argo, Asylum, etc.

Finishing order: Wicked, Laughing Gull, Argo, Asylum, Skybird, LinGin, and Second-2-Nun.
