Purpose: Begin refinishing the chimney and teak trim pad. Begin painting v-berth.

Weather: Mid 70s, clear, beautiful day

  • Removed finish from the chimney teak trim ring using the Heat Gun
  • Sanded chimney teak trim with 150 grit and 220 grit using the Ridgid quarter sheet sander
  • Removed teak cleat on front bulkhead of v-berth that holds the table.
  • Masked off various items in the v-berth (about one hour).
  • Removed eight nut holding the forward hatch. Two of the bronze screws broke (about one half-hour).
  • Removed the wood screws holding the cleats for the two access panels in the v-berth, one port side, one starboard.
  • Applied first coat of High Gloss White to
    • the hull to deck joint,
    • the forward bulkhead,
    • the aft bulkhead,
    • the hull above the shelf,
    • the top side of the shelf,
    • the under side of the self,
    • the vertical face of the forward hatch opening,
    • the area around the deck organizer located on the port side at the forward end of the coach roof,
    • the perimeter of the port side of the v-berth flat, and
    • a strip about two inches wide around each of the items above so that the rest can be rolled rather than brushed.
