- Tried to install the new #10-24 machine screws to hold the hinges for the forward hatch, but they are too short. Purchased 1-1/2" long #10-24 machine screws at Fawcetts for installation.

- Installed the teak trim ring for the chimney using Bed-It butyl tape between the trim ring and the deck. Applied a rectangle of the tape tangent to the edges of the deck penetration with the inboard side extending past the forward and aft sides of the rectangle. The tape squeezed well as the two screws holding the trim ring to the deck were tightened.

- Installed the 3" AFI Day/Night Plus Vent Stainless - N20703S
onto the trim ring. TIGHT installation. Used a mallet to sink the vent into the trim ring. Evidently, when test fitting, either I had not inserted the vent the full distance, the diameter of the uppermost 1/2" or so of the vent is wider, or the trim ring had expanded in the heat. This will need to be addressed.

- Changed the fuel filter in the Racor 110A located in the starboard locker. VERY difficult to remove the filter. Evidently, the method is to remove the drain plug from the bottom and drive the filter out of the cup. The filter contained a good bit of water and foreign matter, very fine reddish material that filled the hole in the center of the drain plug and collected in the bottom of the cup. Decent amount of water as well. There are two O-rings that come with the filter. One O-ring fits the bottom of the filter and completes the seal separating the inside from the outside of the filter. The other O-ring, sits up in the housing into which the cup is screwed.

- Took a good bit of effort to get enough air out of the fuel system to run the engine properly. Just running the engine after changing the filter does not do the trick of filling the filter. Needed to spin the engine for 10 seconds with the starter and the decompression levers engaged and the throttle full open. Attempt to start for 10 seconds with the throttle full open. Remove the bleed screw from the on-engine fuel filter, use the lift pump to refill the on-engine fuel filter, and repeat several times till the engine caught. Once the engine started, it ran rought for a few minutes at 1,000 to 2,000 rpm despite having the throttle full open. After a while the engine ran smoothly. Mission accomplished.
