Two different winds on the water. A softer wind, blowing down Spa Creek, and a more vigorous wind out of the south on the Bay. The area downsteam of Horn Point and south of Whitehall Bay, seemed to the be place that these two winds met. A number of J/80's out. Presumably students from J World. Was able to catch and pass them at various times. At times the wind would be softer, at times fresher, with large shifts in direction. Only once Constance arrived near the entrace to Chesapeake Harbor, did the wind settle into a reasonably stable state.
The ride from Chesapeake Harbor, out around R "2" had gusty winds, back into Spa Creek had consistent wind, on the port quarter about 130 degrees off the bow, about 8 knots, boatspeeds around 6 knots. On the way back in, encountered a Newport 28 headed for Back Creek that was sailing quite well. May have been just as fast as, or faster than, Constance. The Newport 28 was sailing more upwind than our broad reach. The Newport 28 has "faster" SA/D and D/L ratios.
