The diesel supply lines from the FT1294 Fuel Tank
to the filter has several splices. Each splice seems to leak some amount of fuel. Engine stopped while running on 20 September, about 3.5 hours after replacing the Racor 110A
fuel filter. Decided to redo the system.
- Used the West Marine Manual Oil Changer
to extract more than a quart of diesel from the bottom of the tank via the fill opening. The fill opening is adjacent to the supply pickup tube. Hard to determine if there is any contamination.
- Changed the filter in the Racor 110A.
- Changed the on-engine fuel filter.
- Removed the fuel supply lines from the Racor 110A.
- Moved the connections from the outboard side of the 110A to the inboard side. The new fuel supply lines will run along the inboard wall of the starboard cockpit locker to just aft the engine instrument panel and then to the Racor 110A.
- Re-routed the diesel lines from the lowest openings between the starboard cockpit locker and the engine room to the highest. The filtered supply line shares an opening with the engine instrument wiring panel wiring harness.
- Drilled a hole through the bulkhead separating the starboard cockpit locker from the aft lazarette to accomodate the diesel supply and return lines.
- Made up a thick (peanut butter) mix of West System epoxy and silica which was used to coat the bare plywood exposed by cutting the hole.

- Had to cut the day short to clean up and drive to Newark Liberty International Airport to pick up Azriel, Devorah, and Shvut.
