- Scraped remaining material, brown dried caulk, from the shelf that supports the coamings.
- Removed the traveller from the after deck. The two allen head bolts that hold the end control sliders in place were extremely stiff. Using PB Blaster
, I was able to remove the bolts. Bolts are stainless steel. End control is aluminum. No evidence of lubrication or anti-seize. Same applies to the three screws holding the end control blocks to the end control slider. Lubricated both with Tef-Gel
anti-seize. Much easier to reassemble after doing so. Track is 150mm of Harken Low Profile track. The traveller track had been bedded in what appears to be plumber's putty. Cleaned that off the track and the deck.
- Removed the ISAF race signals sticker from the aft wall of the cockpit.
- Removed the builder's plate from the front wall of the cockpit above the bridge deck.
- Scrubbed the entire cockpit and parts of the side deck, after deck, and coach house to be painted with hot water and Dawn.
- Rinsed the same with large quantities of cold water.
-
- Next steps:
- Remove wood trim around the companionway.
- Remove the access plate in the cockpit floor.
- Need to decide whether or not to remove the cockpit drains for this project.
- Use Interlux Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202
to remove any wax or other material from the surfaces to be painted.
