The following from memory on Monday morning.
First race: four legs, each about one nautical mile. Shorted to two legs due to declining wind speeds. Fouled by 197 at the start. 197 came at us on port, tacked over and in doing so failed to give us the ability to keep clear. Argo was forced to tack to avoid the collision. Protested. Laughing Gull refused to take penalty turns. After discussion with the protest committee, protest withdrawn. Much better than on Friday. Perhaps due to having "knocked off the rust" and four aboard in place of six? Much quieter boat. Folks more focused on racing and less on socializing. Finishing order: 11, 562, 484, 247, 197.
Second race: four legs of 0.8 nautical miles each. The boat was clicking. At the first windward mark, 197 successfully lee-bowed us. Very nicely done. On the second downwind, and last, leg with Argo and Laughing Gull on port tack, Laughing Gull slowly caught up to us. TC decided to confront Jonathan. Gybed to starboard while overlapped and to leeward of Laughing Gull with Laughing Gull about 10 yards away. Laughing Gull failed to alter course; failed to keep clear. Insisted that they did not need to alert course, that we were compelled to sail a "proper course", and that they were leeward boaat. Argo's spinnaker repeatedly was in contact with Laughing Gull. Protested. Laughing Gull refused to take penalty turns. After discussion with the protest committee, protest withdrawn. Laughing Gull assessed a 20% scoring penalty. Finishing order: 562, 247, (no third place), 11, 484 and 197 both with five points.
