Gentle breeze at the upwind start. Not possible the lay the line on port.
Course B4. Argo started nearer the pin, downwind from the rest of the fleet which started much closer to the committee boat. We rounded the first mark close to LinGin, within four boat lenghts. Needed to shoot the mark, TC left it a bit late. We missed the mark, but the jib hit the mark forcing us to do a single penatly turn. The turn allowed LinGin to gain significant distance downwind to the next mark. Windward spinnaker drop at the downwind mark so that we could hoist the spinnaker out of the companionway for the run back into the harbor.
The spinnaker was fouled. Somehow between the douse and the hoist, a half turn was introduced. Freed the spinnaker by unshackling the sheet and reconnecting after passing the shackle end of the sheet from in from of the sail to the back side of the sail. Breezes were light enough that this was not a problem. As we approached R "8", the wind moved forward. Ended up flying the spinnaker as a reacher at less than 90 degrees to the apparent wind. Guy near the headstay and very tight. Sheeted well in as well.
Finished at R "8" well behind LinGin.
Finishing order: LinGin, Argo, Skybird, Second-2-Nun, Laughing Gull(DNC).
