Motored out to just shy of R "4". Very light wind, just a light air. Very disappointing as I watched a C&C 30 One Design eXtreme 2 moving quite smoothly just 100 yards away. ;)
Motored out to the Bay, past Whitehall Bay, to where the wind was. Found Force 3 winds out of the northeast with thirty degree shifts clocking to the east and back to the northeast. Sailed the boat "loose", fifty to sixty degrees off the apparent wind based upon the gauges. Very nice while it lasted. Spotted a ketch of some unidentified type, ahead and to leeward. Chased. After she turned back towards Annapolis, tacked to starboard to fetch Y "A" and R "4", which appeared inline. Had speed on the ketch till the wind started to decline about 0.6nm from Y "A". The ketch appeared to harden up passing well to windward of Y "A" into Whitehall Bay. At that point the ketch was sailing faster, she rather sailed away from us, I'm afraid.
