- Purchased exterior plywood for the head floor at HomeDepot.
- Purchased 15" black sail numbers from Bacons. Ten "2" and five "6" for about $62 total.
- Up the mast to address several issues.
- In preparing to go up using John Donegan's ATM TopClimber, the 2mm 2mm halyard leader
that I threaded in place of the main halyard, while moving the main halyard to ascend upon it, jump the sheave and became wedged between the sheave and the sheave box. Went up on the spinnaker halyard installed this week.
- Freed the halyard leader and brought the main halyard through the mast, tying it off the TopClimber.
- Repositioned the two aftward pointing arms of the Windex.
- Replaced the genoa halyard block with a Harken block same size as those installed for the spinnaker turning blocks earlier this week. Not a ratchet block. Perhaps Harken 2.25 Classic Swivel
The existing block was secured in the aft most position of the crane using a screw pin bow shackle. The ends of the bow are too large to pass through the bail of the block, so the block was replaced.
- Moved the genoa halyard block from the crane to the mast using previously installed attachment points. The new attachement point is above the slot through which the main halyard passes and immediately behind the attachment of the headstay. This was the final of a few different variations considered.
- The genoa halyard is no longer lead though the keeper just to starboard of centerline of the mast and below the opening for the main halyard.
- The new genoa lead allows the top swivel to be raised to the top of the foil. The higher the better as the angle improves (widens) as the top swivel is raised. Best to raise the top swivel all the way and use a pendant at the tack of the genoa. Should be able to accomdate the Interrupt 170LP genoa now.
- Lead the 2mm halyard leader through a small check block located on the starboard aft quarter nearly at the top of the mast for a pig stick.
- Purchased 75' of 3/16" XLS
for the pig stick halyard, $0.12/ft at Fawcetts. Samson is discontinuing XLS and replacing it with XLS3.
