- Sanded the inside of the pedestals and underside of the flanges with 120 grit.
- Cleaned with 202.
- Cut two layers for 1708 for each pedestal. One layer 4" wide and one 3" wide, so that the 1708 covers the entire width of the flange with a bit of excess to trim off and runs up the inside of the pedestal.
- Wet out the layers on a piece of plastic wrap taped to the back steps. Seems to be a better way of getting the resin into the cloth. Allows the finned roller to distribute the resin more evenly.
- Placed each layer, one layer at a time, onto the flange and wrapped the 1708 onto the side wall of the pedestal.
- Cut darts in the part going over the flange as needed so that the glass would lie flat.
- Hand pressed the wet out glass hard against the existing glass and smoothed down all edges.
- Set wood with weights on top atop the flanges to prevent the 1708 from lifting and separating as it cures. 1708 is stiff stuff and left to itself will lift off the surface of the flange. Does not seem to be a problem on the vertical surfaces of the pedestals. Perhaps due to the much larger surface area in contact with the existing glass.
