Tatus II 150LP genoa, downwind raised the Interrupt mainsail.
Feeling lazy and given the force 5 winds in the Severn River decided to sail without the main. Less stress on the boat and still making 5knots upwind, albeit at a bit wider angles, 40* and 50* apparent wind.
One the way out, first tack headed about 200*, saw Winsome Wind, a Catalina 380 , also from Yacht Haven Annapolis, current for sail via Martin Bird, with main only hoisted. Was able to sail faster and higher. Guessing that they were out to demo the boat, not sail.
Out in the Bay, the developed waves pushed the bow off to leeward repeatedly hurting our progress to windward. Spotted a boat that appeared to be an Alberg or Alberg-style design, bow and stern similar to the Alberg 30, rounded deadlights in fore and aft corners, similar coachroof, under main and jib, well heeled over. Sail insignia appeared to be a large "V" with a bar horizontally crossing the middle which could be a Pearson Vanguard , a 1963 design 33 foot boat. Tacked over to starboard to chase them eastbound. Not fast enough under jib along. They were able to increase their lead from about 200 yards. Gave up. Tacked to round R"2" and headed back to the slip. After about a mile of slower speeds, less than 4.5 knots, decided to raise the main, which added nearly a knot to the boat's speed.
While stowing the main with the engine idling off Annapolis City Marina, the engine died. Time to change fuel filters. See 2019-10-07maint.
