- Purchased a North roller furling working jib from Gregory Urban for $250. See Sails for dimensions.
- After previous work on the mast base, the base is flat fore and aft, but slightly crowned athwartships. Used the belt sander to remove the crown.
- Test fit of the new headstay and the new backstay.
- The new headstay, with the link plate adapter, does not fit. The adapters are not long enough to allow the pin to be inserted. The link plate adapters are 1-5/16" pin to pin which is about 1/4" short. See first set of photos. Possible to cut down the existing link plate extenders to have only three holes in place of the original six. Pin to pin in the link plate extenders is 1-1/8" everywhere.
- The new backstay eye swage fitting's 3/8" wide section is not long enough to allow the the pin to be inserted. See second set of photos. The swage is a Hayn ME08. Perhaps a Sta-Lok 130N-06 swage marine eye would work or perhaps a Sta-Lok 133-06 eye mechanical terminal. The eye mechanical terminal in 7/8" from pin center to where the fitting flares out from the 3/8" thick end.
