Date: 02 June 2020 14:00 till 02 June 2020 17:00
Endpoints: Yacht Haven Annapolis to Yacht Haven Annapolis
Purpose: Cable Clam
Complement: Yoni Bresler
Weather: High 70s, light breezes.

  • Moved all remaing items out of the cabin into the v-berth, but for those in the galley shelves, the lockers, and the shelf by the companionway. The third had a hole ~7/8" diameter to contain a four conductor plug and socket. Four conductors are not enough. Need conductors for: anchor light, steaming light, deck light, windex light, and ground. Five conductors.
  • Purchased a CableClam 0.83" from Fawcetts.
  • With a file, flattened the size of the cable clam towards the mast so that the cable clam would be centered over the existing 7/8" hole.
  • Covered each set of three electrical conducts exiting the mast with 3/8" diameter heat shrink and inserted a portion of the covered wiring into the mast itself.
  • Covered the two sets, the VHF cable, and the wind instrument cable with 1/2" heat shrink diameter.
  • The resulting bundle passes through the CableClam 0.83" .
  • Secured the base of the cable clam to the deck using 3/4" #8 pan head screws in place of the 7/8" provided. The 7/8" protrude from the overhead into the v-berth.
  • Tested the steaming and deck lights.
  • Removed the small electrical box and seven position euro-style wire connector used for the wire instrument cable from the starboard bulkhead of the engine box. Will be relocated to the within the electrical panel wood enclosure.
