First time back to the boat since leaving for family vacation in the Outer Banks on Sunday, August 2nd.
- Tested and confirmed that all lighs work: anchor, steaming, deck, navigation.
- Checked state of charge of batteries. See battery maintenance.
- Checked oil level in engine (just below half).
- Little water in the bilge when I arrived. All the water was contained within the sump area.
- Heavy thundershower that resulted in the
2020 AYC WNR
being cancelled lasted about 30 minutes.
- After the thundershower eased, checked that all chainplate are dry. Cooler to the touch than the surrounding fiberglass, but dry.
- Increased amount of water in the bilge. Wet, glistening surface of side of engine compartment on the port side at the front end of the cockpit locker indicates that water is entering the cockpit when it rains and draining into the bilge.
