Headed out to test using iNavX
as a chartplotter. Looking to get the same data as the provided by the Garmin GPSMAP 192C
. In particular: heading, speed over ground, date/time, latitude/longitude.
iNavX successfully transitioned from waypoint to waypoint as I sailed under jib only. Speed over ground and velocity made good were easy. Latitude/longitude are displayed on the same ribbon above the chart as the rest of the instruments. Ribbon is too wide, on the iPhone, and must be scrolled side to side to see all items.
Configured iNavX
as a chartplotter:
- created waypoints for each of the marks used in the Annapolis Yacht Club Wednesday Night Races.
- created the routes of the AYC WNR using those waypoints.
- in iPhone "Setting" app, "Privacy" settings, enabled "Location Services".
- in iPhone "Setting" app, "Display and Brightness" settings", set "Auto-Lock" to "Never">
- in iNavX chart settings:
- enabled: "Waypoint For Course Up Orientation".
- enabled: "Range Ring" with the smallest diameter (0.1nm).
- enabled: "Waypoint Activated Alert".
- enabled: "Show Route" as "Sel" (selected).
- in iNavX instruments settings:
- disabled "True Bearings".
- enabled "BTW (Bearing to Waypoint)".
- enabled "DTW (Distance to Waypoint)".
- enabled "DWN (Destination Waypoint Name)".
- enabled "SOG (Speed Over Ground").
- enabled "SOG (Speed Over Ground").
- enabled "VMG (Velocity Made Good").
Issues:
- How to get the screen to rotate when the iPhone is rotated.
- Need smaller "Range Ring".
