- Removed the four cleats bolted through the coamings, two on port, two on starboard.
- Removed the Cetol finish that had lifted from the wood in various locations on the handrails, coamings and toerails.
- Sanded with the handrails, coamings and toerails with 220 grit where needed.
- Roughened the surface of the handrails, coamings and toerails with ScotchBrite.
- In places the wood was too wet to refinish due to last night's heavy rains.
- Wet scrubbed the topsides where they had been stained/discolored by rust(?) in streaks from the guardrail down the topsides towards the waterline. Was able to remove the streaking at the cost of removing a bit of the paint, based upon the discoloration of the water immediately below. Had thought that the paint was deeply stained and it would not be possible to deal with but for sanding and re-painting. Pessimism.
- Installed the two lower fiddles, that had been treated with Danish Oil
in the hanging locker.
- Removed and reinstalled the closed body turnbuckles for the lifelines. Lubricated the threads with T-9
.
