Log of Alberg 30 #262 on 12 November 2021

Date: 12 November 2021 1330 till 12 November 2021 1515
Endpoints: Yacht Haven Annapolis to Yacht Haven Annapolis
Purpose: Replace several blocks on the mast. Begin winterization.
Complement: Yoni Bresler
Weather: High 70's.

  • Removed v-berth cushions and settee back cushions.
  • Removed EP Sails racing spinnaker.
  • Removed Interrupt #1 genoa.
  • Removed North working jib.
  • Replaced damaged Harken Carbo Air 57mm Swivel spinnaker halyard block with a Harken Carbo Air 40mm Swivel . The larger block caught repeatedly on the masthead and/or the cotter pin securing the spinnaker haylard block resulting in the plastic breaking. (see photo). May need to secure the cotter pin so that it cannot pivot to allow the ends of the pin to protrude past the masthead OR replace the cotter pin with a cotter ring and ziptie to the masthead. The smaller swivel block is able to turn freely due its smaller size.
  • Replaced the genoa halyard Antal Low Friction Ring with a Ronstan RF41100 40mm single swivel block locked athwartships with the halyard exiting the port side of the block down to the cheek block at the port side base of the mast.
  • Replaced the heavily damaged Lewmar spinnaker topping lift block with a Ronstan RF51100 50mm single swivel block locked athwartships with the spinnaker topping lift exiting the port side of the block down to the cheek block at the port side base of the mast.
  • Unlocked main topping lift Harken Carbo Air 57mm Swivel block from its fore and aft orientation and locked it athwartships. Would have used a smaller block, such as the Ronstan RF41100 40mm single swivel block had another one been available.
