The Bosch 3017DVS 5" random orbital sander is dead, basically. It won't run at speed under load.

Purchased a Bosch ROS20VSC 2.5A unit as a replacement. The can mount both 5 In. Sponge Applicator Pad (RS013) and 5 In. Buffing Disc (RS014), which is good. I can use it to clean and buff the hull. Its a bit weak as a sander. Removes material, yet after about two and a half hours of sanding there was significantly less material in the shop vac that with the Bosch 3017DVS. Up side is that the unit is light weight, only 3.5lbs, so its very easy to use on the underside of the hull where one is holding the sander upwards against the hull rather than vertically as against the keel.

Need another sander.

Sanded the starboard side from the depthsounder aft. Need to sand the turn of the bilge, particularly under the counter by hand. The curve is too tight for the sander.
