Rain all day yesterday. Took the day off from boat work.
- Loaded the practice main and 135LP genoa into the v-berth, as well as all the running rigging.
- Tried longboarding, wet sanding, the first coat of primer on a section of the starboard keel. Worked well. Noticeably smoother after just 15 strokes along each of the two diagonals. Need to longobard the hull after the second coat of Petit Protect
dries.
-
- Taped off the top edge of the area to be primed in preparation for bottom paint.
- Reserved about 9oz of white Petit Protect
resin and 3oz of hardener for the areas under the jack stands.
- Applied one layer of white Petit Protect
. Used only about half a gallon. Went around the entire hull a second time and used nearly all of the gallon. Took from about 1345 to about 1530. Thinned the Petit Protect
with 5oz of 120 Brushing Thinner
to make up for the quantity reserved for the jack stand areas.
-
- The uneveness of the primed or painted surface is noticeably less on Constance as a result of the 1/4" nap roller vs the result on the boat next door with a 5/16" or 3/8" roller. Means less longboarding will be required to obtain a smooth surface before applying bottom paint. See photos at bottom.
