During the race on 2022-05-25, the spinnaker pole was bending upward from the downhaul D-ring to the tip of the pole where the foreguy runs. The D-rings were a nice idea but are not useful aboard an Alberg 30 with this aluminum pole.

Removed the D-rings and installed two lengths of 3/16" Dyneema. Installed a Brummel lock eye splice at one end with more than 13" of bury or more than 72 diameters. The other end is a simple eye splice with the tail passing through the standing part twice before the bury of more than 13" or more than 72 diameters. Added a tight whipping just below the second pass through followed by sewing the excess of the whipping line back and forth through the bury about a dozen times. Wrapped the ends of the whipping line around the Dyneema, square knotted, and melted to form fit the line. Formed the eyes for the snap shackles of the spinnaker topping lift line and spinnaker downhaul line using Alpine Butterfly Loops.

The spinnaker topping lift line (white with blue fleck, sky colors?) should be connected to the grey New England Ropes HTS-78 bridle.
The spinnaker downhaul line (blue) should be connected to the blue Samson Rope Amsteel Blue bridle.

Checked a number of YouTube videos and other sources regarding eye splices when only one end is available. In every case, the eye is formed in such a way that the eye itself has to pass through the line. Appears that its impossible to create the single-ended eye splice around an object that cannot fit through the line.
