Removed the rudder shoe. Carefully cleaned paint out of the slot of screw heads...upon reinstallation, fill the slot in the screw head with wax before painting. Unscrewed carefully and slowly to prevent tearing out the head. Surprisingly easy to pull from hull by inserting a putty knife at the edge and driving the putty knife along the seam from the aft end of the shoe to the fore end. Bedded in Dolphinite perhaps, certainly not 3M 5200. Came off with ease once the bolt and two screws were removed. The pin is a bit worn and the socket in the rudder shoe a bit enlarged. Attempted to unscrew the pin from the rudder using a Vice-Grip. No luck. Stopped as the Vice-Grip is damaging the bronze pin.
Washed the hull forward of the turn of the leading edge of the keel prior to modest filling.
Removed the aft chainplates for inspection and to remove any burrs on the backing plates.
Six gallons of water in the bilge. Small amount in the hanging locker. Vacuumed out.
Filled low spots in the hull forward of the turn in the leading edge of the keel. Needs to longboarded again after filling.
One more longboarding on each side of the bow needed.
