Log of Alberg 30 #262 on 23 June 2025

Endpoints: Yacht Haven Annapolis to Yacht Haven Annapolis
Purpose: Replace Genoa Halyard Block
Complement: Yoni Bresler

  • Installed Harken Need entry for 6320 for the genoa halyard. Ronstan RF41100 40mm single swivel block has proven unsuitable in the past.
  • Removed strap eye across the top of the entrance for the main halyard. Element block does not contact main halyard, particularly when the genoa halyard is tensioned.
  • Possible to install a section of sheet metal, perhaps 1/16" thick(?), across the top section of the main halyard using the existing screwholes (8-24?).
  • Takes between ten and fifteen minutes to climb the mast, about two to three feet per minute.
  • Four wraps of the Beal Jammy around the main halyard locks tight. Not possible to slide it down at all.
  • Need to practice the transition from Guide mode to rappelling.
  • Rappelled down using the ATC Guide on both the main and the spinnaker halyards.
