AYC canceled the first race of the 2026 Wednesday Night Races Series 1 claiming too little wind.

More than two dozen boats decided to sail anyway. Some headed down the river. Others, under spinnaker, sailing up river. The Harbor 20 fleet sailed back to the yacht club making good speed; those sailing moving as fast as those that decided to motor.

We headed out to enjoy the beautiful evening, to make sure that all lines ran correctly, and to get all the sails up on down. An opportunity to "knock off the rust" from the lack of winter sailing as well as perform a number of spinnaker gybes.

With the new paint and repeated longboarding, the boat moved very well. Winds started at the cusp of force 2 to 3, dropped out for a while, and they returned as we approached Horn Point. During the lightest wind period, under spinnaker, the boat glided along with minimal distrubance of the water. Quite pleased with the result of this winter's work on the bottom.
