- Responding:
- Turn off/zero out RIT, XIT, and SPLIT
- Listen, and find a station calling: CQ CQ CQ DE K3WWP K3WWP K
- Zero beat your transmitter to the calling station
- Respond to the CQ with a 1x2 call: K3WWP DE KC3KBE KC3KBE +
- He will come back with: KC3KBE DE K3WWP R GM (GA, GE) tnx call UR 579 579 in NAME HW? + KC3KBE DE K3WWP K (KN)
- Respond with: K3WWP DE KC3KBE R GM nice to meet u UR 579 579 in Silver Spring MD Silver Spring MD Name JON JON HW? + K3WWP DE KC3KBE K (KN)
- He should respond: KC3KBE DE K3WWP R GM JON HW? AR KC3KBE DE K3WWP K
- End the QSO: K3WWP DE KC3KBE R blah, blah, blah, ok Joe tnx nice qso hpe cul vy 73 GM SK K3WWP DE KC3KBE K
- He should respond: SK KC3KBE DE K3WWP CL dit dit
- send a single dit and another QSO is finished. dit
- Initiating:
- Listen for several seconds to make sure the portion of the band is clear
- Send QRL? and listen while tuning up and down the band a bit either side of your selected frequency
- If still clear, try the QRL? a second time after a few seconds
- Call CQ using the 3x2 format: CQ CQ CQ DE KC3KBE KC3KBE K
- Enter the Responding sequence with the calls switched.
