Bought a Schaefer 1/4" Stamped D Shackle 93-21 at WestMarine to attach the tack to the eye cast into the boom. The pin fits a bit loosely, might be able to use a 5/16" or even 3/8" pin. The opening of the shackle fits around the casing quite nicely, very little play.
First sail with the mainsail from Interrupt #367 acquired on 2018-07-30. The draft in the main is much farther forward than that of the mail that came with Constance. Seems to produce the same power with less heeling as well. Still very early, but initial impressions are good, satisfied. The sail is not a heavy duty one, but should be perfectly adequate for the Chesapeake Bay.
Sailed out to the shipping channel at G "WR87". On the way back, the wind just about died. Downwind sailing in the heat and humidity with little breeze is not much fun. Motored back in which gave the engine a good workout. Speed topped out about 5.5 knots. Betting that this is due the build up of growth on the bottom. Need to remind Patrick again.
