Per Meredith: Two squalls.
Got through the first one with wind in the high 20s and a nasty little round up but we kept the boat racing.
Second squall sat over the bay and just kept following us from west to east into the mouth of the Choptank. Made it all the way to R10 and saw wind in the low 30s. We couldn’t control the boat any longer and had to drop both sails. We floated around while we got the main and jib under control on deck hoping the wind would drop and we could keep racing but it just didn’t. Lots of lightning too.
Painful but we made the call to retire
