Stayed away from the boat this day to allow the KiwiGrip applied yesterday two full days to dry/cure before tramping all over it.
- Lightly sanded cockpit seats and companionway trim with 400 grit. The 220 grit recommended in the Application Instructions seemed to remove too much material.
- Removed sanding dust from cockpit seats and companionway trim using a hot wet rag -- NOT a tack rag.
- Applied fifth coat of Awlwood
clear gloss to cockpit seats and companionway trim. This coat required less material. Expect that this trend will continue as the surface becomes smoother. Three ounces was just a little bit more than needed.
- Applied third coat of Cetol Marine Natural Light
to outboard surface of the coamings and icebox lid.
-
- Next steps:
- Apply sixth finish coat to cockpit locker seat lids and companionway trim.
- Apply second coat to inboard surface of coamings and icebox lid.
- Apply Brightside to companionway rim and ruddershaft penetration.
- Reinstall engine controls.
- Reinstall instruments.
