Course: A1.
Sails: i Elliott/Pattison Sailmakers
169LP genoa and Interrupt main. EP Sails spinnaker. Backstay at 3.
Started late about one length behind Ronin. Very badly misjudged the start. Started at the committee boat. Hardened up onto starboard tack close-hauled course immediately after the start.
Pursued the fleet from the start, catching and crossing ahead of Argo when Argo tacked from starboard to port to avoid the Greenbury Point shoal. Skybird ahead of us both. Tacked soon after crossing Argo.
Argo was able to extend her lead a bit on port tack and on the last startboard board coming into the windward mark.
Got an override on the furling line and unable to roll up the genoa. Had to go forward to fix by removing the shield/guard from the furler. Appears that the key is keeping the tension on both the genoa sheet and the furling line constant while the genoa is being deployed. Headed downwind under genoa while addressing issue. Similar to the problem on the first day of the 2023 Annapolis Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta .
Hoisted spinnaker and doused at R"8" without issues once the furler had been addressed.
Rounded R"8" a bit ahead of the J/30 Mondial and remained ahead of them to the finish.
Finishing order: 247, 550, 262. Did not compete: 272
